After a successful second edition in August 2017, Dance Bridges Festival will  continue to engage with local and international artists through a number of exciting new events. This summer we have a special workshop with artist Stefano Fardelli (Italy) and a few more events to be announced shortly.


A contemporary dance workshop will be held on May 26th 2018, at The Doodle Room, from 3PM-6PM (requires prior registration) followed by a dance video screening and talk by the artist from 6.30PM-7.30PM (Free Entry).
This workshop is supported by the Consulate General of Italy (Kolkata), Istituto Italiano Di Cultura of Kolkata, Buoyant Performing Arts and The Doodle Room.

About the workshop: This class is meant to combine intelligence and creativity, awareness and aesthetics. With an active mind, and through a moving body, the participants will explore the concepts of space, weight and fluidity. While experimenting with these concepts the participants will also study some combinations and sequences. Through the use of gravity and the use of the floor one will explore new qualities of movement. The students will discover new ways of approaching their techniques through different space levels, without losing a sense of lightness and freedom.

Suitability: The class is most suitable for dancers with previous dance training and will be of an Intermediate/Advanced level (age 13+) but will be open to participants of all backgrounds and levels.

Charges: Rs. 400 per person for the workshops. Discounted price of Rs. 300 for all students( please present a valid student ID at the time of registration.) Special discount price for dancers/students of Buoyant Performing Arts: Rs. 250. The lecture session has no fee.

About the artist:
Stefano Fardelli, born in Italy is a dancer, choreographer and teacher. He has a degree from M.A.S. Accademy in Milan; and
has studied in several other choreographic centers in Europe. His international collaborations include associations with the Berlin Opera, BBC, The Place, Royal Filand Opera, Les Gens d’Uterpan, English National Opera, Cie Twain etc.

In Europe his productions are supported by Ass. Cult. Pindoc Onlus & Compagnia Excursus and Dance Haus which are supported by the Italian Government. In Asia his productions are supported by the Italian Embassy of Mumbai and Attakkalari Centre for Movements Art of Bangalore. His choreographic work (live performances and dance films) have been presented in festivals in Italy, Norway, Spain, Poland, India, UK, Chile and USA.

He teaches Feldenkrais technique and contemporary dance for festivals, academies, professional centres, professional companies and theaters in all Europe, for several centers including The Place, London Contemporary Academy in London, and Asia.
