December Workshops – Purnendra Meshram at The Kolkata Centre for Creativity | 07.12.2019
Indian based movement artist Purnendra Meshram led an exciting workshop with local dancers at the Dance studio of the Kolkata Centre of Creativity. Purnendra’s explored the simplicity of everyday movement done in the most organic way for the body. With a wide range of experience with movement practitioners internationally Purnendra’s research is a unique personal reflection of his own body perception and way of moving.
Young Artists’ Showcase -Open Studio at The Doodle Room | 13.11.2019
Young dancers from India and New Zealand who have enrolled in our regular classes with Dance Bridges presented what they have been exploring in creative movement and contemporary dance sessions led by Vanessa Maria Mirza and other guest teachers. The students age groups ranged between 5-25 years and there was a fun time of dance interactions and and performances. Many thanks to everyone who joined us for the showcase and potluck after.
Contemporary ART+ Performance: a talk by Anirudh Chari | 10.01.2019
British Council Kolkata and Dance Bridges Festival co-presented an interactive session on Contemporary ART + Performance focussed on contemporary artists in the UK led by Kolkata based curator and cultural theorist Anirudh Chari. The talk was followed by a session of improvisation looking at art as a point of departure for inspiration in choreography and performance. It was an enjoyable evening and we are grateful to all those who joined us for this event.

Kyle Scott: Artist talk, Live music & Dance Jam (USA) | 08.09.2018
We had an inspiring evening with artist Kyle Scott, performing songs from recent albums and EP’s, sharing key moments that inspired his music and artistic journey and talking about his creative process in songwriting and music. The dancers enjoyed the interactive session to engage with Kyle’s music exploring movement and improvising together.

Contemporary Dance Workshop & Lecture with Stefano Fardelli (Italy) | 26.05.2018
It was a pleasure to have Stefano Fardelli with us teaching a wonderful workshop based on Feldenkrais and Cunningham technique, followed by a dance history talk with a focus on changing trends in European Dance. We had a large number of participants including students from different parts of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Bangladesh joining us for this event. We look forward to having Stefano with us soon. Artist Talk with Makan Asghvari (Iran) | 16.05.2018
In a very engaging session Makan Ashgvari led us on a journey through the creation of his new album #ToTrucks. As our first music artist feature this was a very successful evening where Makan through words, song, visuals and performance shared with us his art and culture. Dance Improvisation Jam| 16.12.2017
We hosted our first Dance Improvisation Jam with guests artists Devarshi Kar(Percussionist) and Abhishek Banerjee (Visual Artist). It was an enjoyable evening and we grateful to everyone who joined us that Saturday night.
