WORKSHOPS 2026
CIE MF [France/Italy] | 21st August
Playful Body (Contemporary Dance Workshop)
Maxime and Francesco, pedagogues graduated from the National Dance Centre in Lyon, offer a contemporary dance class where they develop a specific awareness of body’s weight and space. The class begins with floor work, pedagogically structured on the cranio-sacral connection, the spiral of the body, the relationship to time and an instinctive and fluid dynamic. The dancers are invited to explore different practices and qualities of movement in an anatomical and functional way, seeking new ways of coordinating themselves in order to favour a common work of research and freedom of interpretation.
The course evolves towards a dialogue based on moments of partnering, in which the dancers question the relationship to the force of gravity by connecting the centers of their bodies, practicing counterweight, off-axis and sensory listening. It is a form of dialogue through touch, which develops trust in the others and encourages taking acrobatic risks, nourished by states of joy, enthusiasm and discovery. It is not a work of physical strength, but a work of balance. The aim is to teach how to let oneself be carried and to welcome and accompany the other’s body while dancing and remaining virtuous. The partnering proposed is dynamic and playful.

Ramanjit Kaur [India] | 22nd August
Narratives through Movement (Theatre and Performance Workshop)
This workshop aimed at dance practitioners is an inquiry into how dance moves beyond the physical form to uncover layered narratives. In this space, the body is understood as a living archive of stories – where every gesture, breath, pause, and transition holds memory, intention, and emotion, gradually revealing meaning as it is observed.
Drawing from Ramanjit Kaur’s interdisciplinary practice spanning theatre, movement, and devised performance, this workshop invites dance practitioners to engage with the body as a site of narrative inquiry. Participants will be encouraged to think of movement not just as form, but as story – stories that emerge from lived experience, imagined worlds, and the subtle in-between moments that often remain unspoken. Through structured movement explorations, improvisation, partner work, and ensemble practices, dancers will investigate how emotion, imagination, spatial awareness, and human connection can be translated into compelling performance material.
At its heart, the workshop treats each body as a storyteller. A simple shift in weight might become a turning point in a narrative; a shared glance might open an entire world between performers. These fleeting, embodied moments accumulate to form stories that are not spoken, but felt – resonating in the space long after the movement has passed. Designed as a collaborative and exploratory laboratory, the workshop encourages dancers to move beyond technical execution, embrace creative risk-taking, and develop authentic, embodied narratives that deepen both performance practice and choreographic expression.

Subhajit Khush Das [India] | 23rd August
Uday Shankar Dance Technique Workshop
Subhajit Khush Das, Artistic Director of SUBHANGIK and a postgraduate from Rabindra Bharati University, India, offers a movement class rooted in storytelling, strength, and conscious body awareness.
The class begins with grounding work, structured around breath, rhythm, and the connection between core and intent. His technique is influenced by the Uday Shankar style, drawing from classical Indian dances, Ballet, and folk textures. Dancers explore weight transfer, spinal articulation, and dynamic use of space. The approach is both anatomical and expressive — building clarity of line while cultivating an instinctive, fluid quality of movement. Performers are encouraged to develop coordination that supports both individual expression and ensemble unity.
The goal is to train dancers who are technically precise and emotionally available. It is a space where discipline meets freedom, and where movement becomes a language for resilience, cultural pride, and human connection. The process is dynamic, theatrical, and playful — guided by the belief: “Live and let live, and in between, keep creating art.”

Flowing with Air (Contemporary Dance Workshop)
This workshop is an open workshop for all levels. The participants begin by focusing on their breath, and feeling how the air enters different parts of the body, expanding and contracting the muscles and joints naturally. As one’s awareness grows, participants will start to sense the air not just inside themselves but also wrapping around their skin, connecting them to the space and music around them. Using one’s gaze, they will observe how others interact with the air, allowing this flow to gradually extend between the bodies in the room. Moving from individual exploration to group awareness, the dancers will then find ways to build a genuine connection between breath and movement, letting their bodies respond naturally to the energy within.
Next, the dancers will bring this awareness into structured movement. They will play with expansion and contraction, moving closer and further away, using air as the driving force behind their bodies. By exploring different textures of movement, they will discover a more organic and sincere way of flowing. Finally, participants will return to themselves, noticing how the air moves between them, allowing their bodies to settle into their most authentic state.
Timings: 2.30-4.30 PM
Venue: Pathshala Dance Academy
